the only moments i am not enraged these days are when i am in yoga class, or drinking bubble tea.

i'm having much trouble motivating myself to do research. however, i think it's because i finally decided to accept the u of a offer. i'm too distracted at the moment (because i'm watching "drop dead gorgeous").
i went to a beginner's hatha yoga class a few days ago. it was invigorating and i felt serene afterwards. so i bought a 10-class card, and i think i'll keep going for the rest of the summer.

(it's a game. do this: 1. Grab the nearest book 2. Open the book to page 23 3. Find the fifth sentence and post it.)

when it comes to "dating" (a gross term, but unavoidable) i find i am more depleted than ever before. i get dissapointed that my romances never turn out like movie courtships. it all seems like a awful failure. ah well. i think it's normal to have these ruffled feathers. all my exes are getting married now. it's harrowing.

a few more weeks until istanbul (less than 3, and more than 2). also, big decisions about future studies. hmmm....i'm in a bind.

did i mention how awfully sexist the incident at mcmaster was? the grafitti was explicit in such a way that i feel disgusting just looking at the picture. we had a rally today in the student centre, during people directly addressed the racist aspect of the crime, which was essential. but relatively little was said about how demeaning it is to women to have graffiti like that spray-painted. though, overall i was really happy with the gathering. i am impressive at how quickly it was organized, and at the fact that most of the people from my program attended. and as always, d. enns was a brilliant speaker (she is taking over as associate director of the institute next fall, as susie goes on mat leave).
back to work. term papers are killing me.
i'm excited for the future. as of august, i'm free! i can't wait to start working; i want to find the perfect job, in the perfect city.

there is a anti-racism and islamophobia rally at mcmaster at 2 pm today. i am glad to see that people are being responsive in a peaceful and positive way, and the speed at which this meet was organized is impressive. i doubt that the person who graffitied the professor's door will be caught, but hopefully that person will see or hear about the demonstration and feel an extreme amount of shame. hmmm....

06:30 pm - Reason # 582 to complain
Earlier this week a disgusting hate crime was committed at my university. A professor organized a "Spend a day in my shoes: wear a hijab" day to raise awareness about diversity on campus at McMaster University. She found a garbage bag taped to her office door a few days later, and underneath was this spraypainted message:
( Hateful graffiti )
